What to Expect
Ciel Bleu Restaurant, located on the 23rd floor, offers a panoramic view of Amsterdam and has been awarded two Michelin stars. The ultimate Ciel Bleu experience is about exceeding expectations – not only through the cuisine but also through service and wine pairings.
As Sommelier, you are responsible for delivering an unforgettable wine experience. You will work closely with the (Senior) Service Manager, F&B Director, and other sommeliers to ensure the highest quality of service.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Advising guests on wine pairings and serving matching wines;
- Actively promoting and upselling wines;
- Monitoring proper storage and condition of the wines;
- Introducing and training new team members;
- Coaching, guiding, and motivating the operational team;
- Coordinating service timing and smooth collaboration between kitchen and front-of-house;
- Developing guest relations and handling requests, comments, and complaints;
- Keeping the wine list up to date;
- Ensuring hygiene, safety, and quality standards are met, including those of The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW).
What We Offer
- Contract: 1 year with the possibility of extension – we want you to stay!
- Salary: Group VI of the hospitality CLA (Collective Labour Agreement);
- Bonus: One week’s extra salary if the hotel meets its Gross Operating Profit (GOP) target and you receive a successful annual performance review;
- 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);

What We Ask
- Proven experience in a similar role in a luxury hotel and/or fine dining restaurant;
- Extensive wine knowledge, supported by certification (e.g., WSET);
- Fluent in Dutch and/or English (spoken and written);
- Strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and a team spirit;
- Flexibility, attention to detail, and a high sense of responsibility.
