What to expect

The Main Kitchen is responsible for the preparation of dishes and products for other departments in F&B such as: Le Camelia, Room service, Lobby Bar and Banquet Operations. The Banquet Operations department is the largest in scale out of all 5 star hotels in the Netherlands, whilst also being a market leader in quality and profitability. Preparation of dishes in the Main Kitchen elicits working at a very high level.

As a Chef de Partie, you are responsible for preparing the greatly diverse dishes at the highest level, conducting mise en place activities, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, ensuring that each section of the kitchen is operating well and developing new items for the menu. The Main Kitchen is responsible for the breakfast, room service, Banquetings department and staff cafeteria. This function provides a diverse range of dishes but also working times. Your main tasks will be:

  • Preparation of dishes according to standards, recipes and planning;
  • Ensuring and maintaining the end product quality;
  • Providing suggestions to the Chef;
  • Contribute to the development of products for the menu;
  • Being involved in the preparation for all dishes;
  • Ensuring good quality, taste, texture and colour of food items and making adjustments when necessary;
  • Instruct and advise colleagues and trainees;
  • Ensuring for a qualitatively end product.

Don't worry, you will not be working alone! Besides working with your team, you will also work closely with other departments in the hotel. Only by working together can we achieve the best results. Work is carried out in shifts throughout a 7-day workweek. You work 5 days a week, 7,6 hours a day. Shifts are dependent on the department in which you will work and the events in house. One week you may work the early shift, while the other week may be evening shifts. You are also available to work on public holidays.

What do we offer?

  • Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of extending. We want you to stay!
  • Salary: Group 5. Click here for the salary scale based on a full-time employment
  • Bonus: 1 week salary when the budgeted Gross Operating Profit and you get a minimum total score of successful in your year end evaluation
  • 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);
  • 25 vacation days per year (pro rata).

  • After obtaining the probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay with breakfast as a gift (2 people), so that you can experience the hotel as a guest!

    What are we asking?

    • You possess a SVH or similar certification;
    • You are creative and enjoy coming up with new ideas;
    • You have relevant work experience (2 – 5 years) in a reputable learning company;
    • You speak fluent English and/or Dutch (oral and written).
    • You are flexible and an independent worker;
    • You live in Amsterdam or surrounding area;
    • As part of the pre-employment screening, you will be asked for a minimum of two positive references.
