What to expect

The Pastry department prepares all pastry and desserts for different departments such as, Breakfast, room service, Banqueting and all the restaurants. 

As an Apprentice together with the rest of the team, you are responsible for preparing dishes, conducting mise en place activities and keeping the kitchen clean. Your main tasks will be:

  • Preparation of dishes according to standards, recipe and planning;
  • Making suggestions to the Chef;
  • Contribute to the development of products;
  • Ensuring good quality and freshness of ingredients;
  • Ensuring good quality, taste, texture and color of food items and making adjustments when necessary;

Don't worry you will not be working alone. Besides working in your own team, you will also work with other departments in the hotel. You will work in shifts from Monday to Sunday. You will work 5 days per week, 7.6 hours a day. You will be expected to be able to work on public holidays.

  • Contribution to travel expenses from 10 km (one way);
  • After obtaining the probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay with breakfast as a gift (2 people), so that you can experience the hotel as a guest!

 What do we ask? 

We are primarily interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you. Nevertheless we expect from you that:

  • You are a student at one of the (Hotel) schools in the Netherlands;
  • You have an eye for detail;
  • You have new ideas;
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English (oral and written)
  • You are flexible in terms of your working schedule;
  • You live in Amsterdam or surrounding area.
