For the engineering department, Hotel Okura Amsterdam offers new challenges every day. With 300 luxurious rooms and many facilities, our international 5-star hotel is a city in itself. Together with your skilled colleagues, you will fulfil an important role here. You are responsible for maintaining all facilities and solving various technical malfunctions. 

From hotel rooms to offices and from refrigerator lighting to 150,000 litres of water in the swimming pool. Every department and facility in our hotel must be in top technical condition. What to expect 

As a Senior Engineer, you will independently solve technical malfunctions and problems by examining the signal, perform preventive work to avoid malfunctions and support our banqueting department with technical aspects during the build-up and breakdown of events. You will do this together with your immediate colleagues from the engineering department. In addition you will also work closely with other teams within our hotel. Because we do only achieve the best results by working together. 


Your main tasks will be:

  • Perform maintenance and repair work within the hotel;

  • Solving technical problems reported by guests or colleagues;

  • Carrying out inspections;

  • Filling in reports and inspection lists and maintaining the logbook;

  • Report damage or dangerous situations;

  • Maintain close contact with all departments in the hotel;

  • Report difficulties in procedures and/or performance, suggest ideas for improvement. 

What we offer you

  • Contract: 1 year, with possibility of extension, we would like you to stay;

  • Salary: € 2,424,96 - € 3.335,06 (function group 6 or 7, depending on knowledge and experience);

  • Bonus: 1 week salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit);
  • 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);

  • 25 vacation days per year (pro rata);

  • After passing the probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay (2 persons) with breakfast as a gift, so you can experience the hotel as a guest!

Working days and shifts

You will work 5 days a week for 7.6 hours a day. Most working days will be between 07:00 and 19:00h. Occasionally, you will work on weekends and/or public holidays. 

Generally, work is not performed on weekends and public holidays, but this is a trial period of up to a year. About once every four weeks, there is a weekend on-call shift where, depending on the severity of the situation, you may be expected to come to the hotel. 

What we ask from you

Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we can offer you as an employer. In addition, we expect that:

  • You are a technical all-rounder with work experience (2-5 years);

  • You have an MTS or MBO diploma level 3 or 4;

  • You have excellent knowledge of Dutch technical laws and regulations, such as NEN3140;

  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English language (spoken);

  • You have a flexible and independent working attitude;

  • You have experience with technical drawings and documentation.

If we are both enthusiastic, we will be happy to make you an offer. After accepting the offer, we will invite you to sign the contract together with the head of department. Before you start, you will receive a two-day ‘Welcome to Okura training’. For the first period, you will be assigned to a buddy. This engineer will show you around the department and introduce you to our system.
