What can you expect

The Banquet Operations department at Hotel Okura Amsterdam is the largest among all five star hotels in the Netherlands and is market leader in banquet revenue and quality. Working in this department is hard, challenging work. No day is the same, in which we strive to keep our service quality to guests as high as possible, working with other teams within the hotel. Together with the team, we ensure for unforgettable events of large scale at Hotel Okura Amsterdam. You are a key point of contact to guests and responsible for supervising the banquet team. Your main tasks will be:  

  • Instructing the Banquet waiters and temporary service staff;

  • Proactive thinking in ways to improve the service;

  • Coordinating conferences and events;

  • Welcoming guests;

  • Maintaining strong contact with other departments;

Don't worry you will not be working alone. Besides working in your own team, you will also work with other departments in the hotel. Only by working together can we achieve the best results. You will work rotating shifts throughout a 7-day workweek. You will work 5 days a week. You are also available to work on public holidays. Shifts are planned dependent on the events in house. Night shifts are not frequent however may occur. All overtime work is properly registered and compensated.

What do we offer?

  • Contract: 1 year with the possibility of extending. We want you to stay!

  • Bonus: 1 week salary if SMART goals are met

  • 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);

What are we asking?

Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you to provide a great workplace. Nevertheless we expect from you that:

  • You have a minimum of two years management experience in a Banquet department;

  • You hold a Middelbare Hotelschool diploma or certification of a similar education;

  • You are guest orientated and have an eye for detail;

  • You possess excellent communication skills;

  • You have excellent knowledge of both Dutch and English (fluency in both written and spoken);
