What can you expect

Sazanka Restaurant is a Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant where Chefs prepare the best quality fish, meats and vegetarian dishes on a hot iron griddle. Sazanka Restaurant is opened from 18:30 till 22:00 and can be booked for group lunches with a minimum group size of 10 people.

As a Luxury Cook, you demonstrate the cooking technique of grilling dishes on the iron griddle at a disciplined high quality manner. You are familiar with Japanese cuisine and therefore an ambassador of the Japanese culture. You possess thorough knowledge of the unique preparation, cooking and presentation methods of the Japanese kitchen and you are able to explain the background information and meaning when needed. One of the goals is to be work in a team of enthusiastic colleagues where you can further develop yourself. Your main tasks will be:

  • Monitor and check the quality, readiness, taste, texture, colour of food items;
  • Judge the used ingredients on quality, freshness and preservation;
  • Guide, advise and lead up to assigned staff members / trainees;
  • Plan and assign activities, including giving instructions;
  • Guard the quality of the work output;
  • Oversee the hygiene and cleaning instructions;
  • Receive, check and store the ordered food items and other supplies;
  • Notice details and shortcomings and where necessary pass this on to the Executive Chef;
  • Make suggestions to the Chef;
  • Contribute to the development of products and items for the menu;
  • Execution of all other occurring relevant activities;
  • Mise en place duties; washing, cutting, cooking;
  • Cleaning of materials, machines and equipment;
  • Cleaning of the kitchen according to HACCP;
  • Storing of fresh food items according to HACCP;

Don't worry you will not be working alone. Besides working in your own team, you will also work with other departments in the hotel. Work is carried out in shifts throughout a 7-day workweek. You will work 5 days in a week, 7.6 hours a day with a shift from 16:00 till closing. You are also available to work on public holidays.

What are we asking?

Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you to provide a great workplace. Nevertheless we expect from you that:

  • You have strong Japanese cooking skills;
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in a Teppanyaki Restaurant and have sufficient knowledge of Japanese dishes and menus;
  • You are creative and like to come up with new ideas;
  • You are fluent in English, both orally and written;
  • Japanese language skills are not a requirement, but is an advantage;

Luxury Cook Sazanka Kitchen

The Sazanka Restaurant is a Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant where the Chefs will prepare the most delicious fish, meat and vegetarian dishes on a hot iron griddle at your table. Sazanka Restaurant is opened from 6.30 PM until 10 PM and can be booked for lunches for groups with a minimum group size of ten people.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone! The Sazanka team consists of fifteen Chefs, one Senior Service Manager, one Assistant Service Manager, one Supervisor, one Sommelier, one Assistant Sommelier, ten Waiters & Waitresses and our trainees & apprentice.

Work is carried out in shifts during 7 days a week. You work 7 days a week, 7,6 hours a day. You are also available to work on public holidays. The shifts are from 16:00 till closing of the restaurant.

What are you going to do?

    What can you expect as a Luxury Cook Sazanka Kitchen?

    Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka is located on the ground floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam and is managed by chef de cuisine, Kazuki Onodera. Due to the intimate setting with shared tables, there is close contact between the chefs and the guests. In Sazanka you work with colleagues from different cultures; Japanese, but also Dutch colleagues work together in a team here. Top quality ingredients are combined with an extensive selection of sakes and wines, while you deliver world-class Japanese service.

    What are we asking?
