Assistant Sommelier Sazanka Restaurant

What are you going to do?

As Assistant Sommelier you work closely together with the Assistant Sommelier and Service Manager and are responsible for serving matching wines whilst sharing your knowledge and where needed assisting managing the team. We are looking for someone who is wanting to expand their current wine knowledge and at knowledge on sake to thata and at the same time wants to become an important part of the Sazanka family. After an extensive training program to get used to the Sazanka standard you will fully focus on your responsibilities as an Assistant Sommelier.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Pro-actively selling wines
  • Ensure that wines are stored in good condition
  • Partially responsible for keeping the wine menu in the restaurant up-to-date
  • Assist in the development of excellent guest contact and taking care of the correct handling of requests and remarks of both guests and colleagues
  • Operational tasks in the restaurant, such as taking orders and serving the guests 
  • Serving our guests during their stay in Hotel Okura Amsterdam according to standards that are set up by the hotel (align with standards of The Leading Hotels of the World) and Michelin
  • Coaching and guiding the team
  • Giving instructions with regards to standards and work procedures

Working days & working hours
Work is carried out in shifts during 7 days a week. The shifts are flexible within a 38 hour week, during 5 days a week. You are also available to work on public holidays.

Who are you?

  • You show similar work experience in luxury hotels and/or restaurants 
  • You have an excellent knowledge of wine and can prove your knowledge with a certification 
  • You are flexible and able to coach and motivate a team
  • You are representative
  • You are service minded
  • You have an eye for detail
  • You are flexible with regards to working hours
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English (oral and written)
  • You live in Amsterdam or its surroundings

Sazanka Restaurant

The Sazanka Restaurant (1 Michelin) is a traditional Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant where the chefs prepare delicious dishes on a hot iron plate at the guest table. The restaurant boasts eleven Teppan grills that each offer room for seven to ten people and are ideal for business and/or festive occasions. The Sazanka Restaurant is opened from 6.30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and can also be booked for lunches for groups from ten or more persons.

Who are your colleagues?

The Sazanka Restaurant team consists of a Senior Service Manager, a Assistent Service Manager, two Restaurant Managers, a Sommelier, a Assistant Sommelier, thirteen Waiters and an Apprentice.

Contract: 1 year contract, possibility to extend
